Over the course of our brief existence as a company, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing many conversations about this adventure we’ve embarked upon. There’s been excitement, encouragement and interest. But all these conversations have one question in common: WTF does the name Cesium133 mean?
It would be incredibly easy to dive into the existential plane and diverge from all relevant discussion, so I’ll stay on task. Put simply, Cesium133 is the particular radioactive isotope of the Cesium element used to calibrate atomic clocks. The isotope’s rate of decay defines the standard measurement of the second as we know it today.
For our team, Cesium133 represents the concept of time, and by extension speed. So in a sense, it’s our reason for being.
Yes, I admit I’m oversimplifying a complex technology. (And for those of you who want to debate the issue, I welcome the opportunity to dive into the details, so feel free to contact me.)
The truth is, our company is as complex as the concept for which it is named. We look forward to catering to a diverse community with diverse interests. Our approach is simple: we’re here to expand to these passions with transparency, accessibility and exceptional quality in products and service.
I am confident in our ability to deliver on our mission. In the meantime, thanks for joining us. We hope you enjoy the ride as much as we will.
